I want to share a story about a recent experience with LLS ( The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
When the “Big Climb” took place on 23 March ( civilians climbing the Seattle Columbia Tower—69 stories ), I volunteered at the LLS information desk.
A man approached the desk, asking if I knew anyone who didn’t have a climber climbing in their name. After some conversation, I took him to the blood drop board ( names of people that climbers were climbing for ) and pointed to my initials and those of two friends.
I had put them on the board just because I wanted to -
He nodded and left after taking my photo.
Sometime later, he returned, showing his receipt. He had donated $750.00 for the three of us.
The entry donation for one designation was $250.00. Wow!
He handed me a T-shirt and wished us all the best.
