American Indian colleges face uncertain future amid federal funding cuts.

There seems to be no end to ignoring valid treaties.

Chief Seattle's tribe, the Duwamish and Suquamish, entered into a deal with the US government through the Point Elliott Treaty, signed in 1855, ceding most of their land in the Puget Sound basin in exchange for a reservation and promises of education, healthcare, and payments. Chief Seattle was the first to sign the treaty, representing his tribes.

As of 21 May 2025 the Duwamish Tribe is NOT recognized as a tribe by the United States Government.
